10,000 Back Doors

Directly after finishing 'Goldfish', the lasted record by k. on Tigerstyle, the Malarkies began tracking for '10,000 Back Doors'. Self-recorded in Brooklyn between June and August 2002, the fourteen-song collection marks a departure not only from their earlier work but also their playing over the past year, touring and recording as members of k. '10,000 Back Doors' includes songs with very little instrumentation. But this is not a record of minimized sounds. The Marlarkies are exploring new instruments: banjo, marimba, pedal steel, piano, glockenspiel and wurlitzer all have a place on this record. The packaging of each CD is unique. Hand-printed with linoleum block lettering.
