2010, Third Man Records
VINYL FORMAT. On 180 gram vinyl in a custom die cut jacket, on four different (randomly selected) colors of vinyl; also comes with a digital download! Third Man Records is excited to release 4 Stars, The Greenhornes' first full length LP of new material since 2002's Dual Mono. This new album may be their strongest collection of songs yet. It's diverse yet very concise - from the dark pop of lead single "Saying Goodbye" and the bubble glam of "Song 13," to "Cave Drawings" moody psych - it's an eclectic and mature work, and very much The Greenhornes' own. The trio of Craig Fox, Patrick Keeler and 'Little' Jack Lawrence - heretofore known as The Greenhornes - have been churning out the highest quality rock 'n' roll for well over a decade. Formed in the late 90s in Cincinnati, Ohio, The Greenhornes have released three full length albums, an EP, and a boat load of singles across a multitude of record labels. What to say about the sound: pure, straight up Nuggets-inspired rock and roll. And by straight-up we mean sans revisionist new wave of snotty garage rock posturing. These guys have been weened on a diet almost solely consisting of the finest R&B and rock innovators: The Kinks, The Who, The Zombies and The Easybeats are immediately recognizable in their sound. This isn't a hobby or something these guys are doing between projects - it's their life. Good, old-fashioned rock 'n' roll, plain and simple.
