2005, Voodoo-Eros
VINYL FORMAT. For Voodoo-EROS' first release, the NY-based alliance collected a gang of exclusive songs reflecting 40 years of archival recordings from members of their eclectic musical family. Includes such unearthed treasures as a lost song by British folk icon Vashti Bunyan, recorded in 1968, a couple tunes self-recorded by a teenaged Devendra Banhart for a friend's birthday, music by Patrick Wolf captured by himself on an uninhabited island, eccentric bedroom rock 'n' roll from French MCs Spleen & Zen, and piano musings that even Sierra Casady can't remember recording. Jagged and dusty, gently eerie, and nostalgically warbled, this collection of songs is like the blue print of a loosely bound family, heritage unknown, generations melting into one another.
