System and Station returns with its fourth full-length, A Nation of Actors, and delivers its most ambitious and most cohesive work to date. Principle songwriter and anchor of the band, RFK Heise, introduces elements of the gentle, at times plaintive, ambiance formerly reserved for the quasi side project Protest Hill, and the effort pays big. A Nation of Actors rides through poppier terrain than its predecessor, Here Is Now, yet doesn't sacrifice the angular guitar work nor the two-ton rhythm section.
