2006, Turquoise Mountain
After quickly selling out the first pressing of their debut concept, this Portland, Oregon band headed back into the recording studio with a more focused and mature songwriting approach along with an eagerness to stretch their boundaries musically. Filling the 700 square foot house with as much dated recording equipment and instruments that they could get their hands on, they gathered around the controls, and spent the better part of a year recording songs to an analog reel-to-reel machine; Hammond organs, Wurlitzer pianos, lap steel, dulcimer, drums, and numerous guitars were the chosen instrumentation for the project. The collaboration between Jackson Groves, and brothers Seth Erickson, and Cy Erickson is a cohesive exploration through each members vision of indie-music -- psychedelic, rocking, and dreamy. The band has been compared to a wide spectrum of artists ranging from Urge Overkill and Steppenwolf to most alt-country artists on the scene today as well. Sounds impossible; you have to hear this band for yourself.

FrankyHoly shit, where did these guys come from?

CeejayHell, when I first heard this album it was like finding a gas station that was selling gas for $1.19. At first I was excited, and then I kept going back to it. I call it my "honey hole" album cause you can go back to it time in/time out. It's a good bridge to bring me down from listening to my Purty Mouth records and Purty Mouth is my favorite but they don't make no music no more. I mean, hell, I've been telling everybody about AM Interstate. I just hope they don't get too popular and success goes to their heads like it did for Purty Mouth.
