Sleep and Release (CD)
Aereogramme release their second full length. 'Sleep and Release' will surprise those new to the band and will delight and confound those who are familiar with the band's previous work.
?We needed to create intense music," states Campbell, "Whether it was intensely wild or intensely fragile. We have no interest in slack-jawed, faux working-class posturing or conceited, culturally aware post-irony. It's got to be about hearts on sleeves not tongues in cheeks (arse or otherwise)."

| An exercise in the juxtaposition of darkness and light, Sleep & Release ranges from beautiful, cinematic ballads ("In Gratitude") to epic indie-metal ("No Really, Everything's Fine") to droning, bell-laden folk-rock pieces remeniscent of the later works of Swans ("Black Path") to the Neurosis-esque untitled finale, all shot through with the band's distinct humility and power, and independant spirit, not to mention Craig B's vocals which veer from painfully delicate to crushingly harsh. Draining and wonderful music for fans of emotional, intelligent rock. | |
