2006, Too Pure
Young People formed when Katie Eastburn and founder Young Person Jeff Rosenberg moved to Los Angeles from their home in the Bay Area where they hooked up with Angeleno Jarrett Silberman. Within a year they released their debut album, 2002's self-titled release on 5RC, an icy, elemental announcement of their talents, followed a year later by War Prayers on the Dim Mak label. Following several tours, Katie moved to New York for the summer of 2003 to star in a friend's play (in addition to her work with Young People, Eastburn is a dancer and choreographer, working at schools in New York and producing a DVD of new dance and music,Starter Set, that has just been released by Kill Rock Stars. You won't hear another record like Young People's All At Once this year, one where not a note is wasted, where so much is communicated in so few sounds, a record possessed of so seductive an ambience, so resonant an atmosphere.

Customer Reviews

Andy InsoundSparse and darkly dramatic, All At Once is a very deliberate record. Katie Eastburn’s haunting vocals ring in your ears over bare bones vignettes of loss. Hints of noir jazz bubble underneath some of the more upbeat tracks but always with a heavy sense of searching for something just out of reach; a unique voice among today’s overcrowded indie scene.
