2006, Flameshovel Records
The second full-length from Low Skies, All the Love I Could Find, is an album firmly rooted in gothic Americana, but with a contemporary aim that gives a sturdy pulse to the songs. Chris Salveter's balladry, guttural and gorgeous, burns with a newfound conviction. His eerie fictional tales of love and death have been largely replaced by equally haunting, yet even more powerful, stories of a very private history. The songs and melodies intertwine creating an oddly cohesive personal study in loss, loneliness, and heartbreak. It's the dark end of the human spectrum that's often feared and avoided, and that's precisely where Low Skies resides, delivering it bruised and beautiful, with teeth bared and arms outstretched.
