2007, Esperanza Plantation
Wooden Finger sprang to life in the fall of 2004 as a collaborative effort between vocalist Allison Jenkins and multi-instrumentalist Matthew Magee. Late night writing sessions in Matthew's dimly lit basement/studio space helped formulate the ethereal sound that drenches their debut LP All This Time...Still We're Lost. Their music is an eclectic, genre-skipping blend of influences ranging from classical/baroque to bluegrass/folk that creates an amalgam of sound, a musical identity all its own. The thematic content of their material takes the listener on a poignant journey through human emotions of loss, sorrow, hope and redemption that is ultimately brought together in a cohesive fashion that has best been described as "eerie stories disguised brilliantly as songs".
