2010, Drastic Plastic
VINYL FORMAT. Produced by Factory Record's sound genius Martin Hannett, Section 25's 1981 debut LP, Always Now, bears similar aural markers to label mates Joy Division and Crispy Ambulance. Full of the late '70s/early '80s post-punk zeitgeist, here is music borne out of punk's simple and urgent delivery, but with loftier artistic aims and an introspective, more complex delivery. Always Now's songs lay out a darkening landscape examining and reexamining the twilight; an aural document of the grays comprising both light and dark. The impression is not unlike Pisarro's pastoral evening landscapes, but bleaker and more evocative of ghosts and the sounds of their chains. Limited edition of 1,000 copies.
