2006, Universal
The Mars Volta returns with a fresh dose of epic rock n' roll on its third studio album, Amputechture. The eight-track set is due September 12th via Universal and opens with the seven-minute "Vicarious Atonement," the closest the group has ever come to a ballad. The album then moves back to familiar expansive musical territory on the nearly 17-minute "Tetragrammaton," and also features two other tracks that clock in past the 11-minute mark, "Meccamputechture" and "Day of the Baphomets." The disc itself runs more than 76 minutes in length. In addition to contributions from Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, "Amputechture" also features Paul Hinojos' first studio work with the Mars Volta since joining as a touring musician in 2005. Hinojos previously played with Mars Volta principals Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez in At The Drive-In. - Billboard

Jenny FDoes not disappoint!

Sanchez IrvingMars Volta is the best group in the world.

Melissa BhagwandinI've gotten into The Mars Volta again. I keep on coming back to this band. They're like a drug... you get a taste and you just keep coming back. They just have a vibe, it roots into you it holds you. It just goes so deep with me. Maybe its the guitars... they are so awesome, they sing by themselves they tell their own story. Their newest album is so rad. Every time I listen to it I'm blown away... and I've had this album for a while. "Amputechture" The Mars Volta, Holy shit that song is so good. It's pretty long too, it seems so short to me.... like a normal song. I don't know... I can really get into it. It's so creepy and weird and sometimes you just need that. It twists my soul, the guitars the vocals the drums everything. It's just so amazing.

TAMAplayerIt's GOOD, very different but AWESOME!!!! Buy it!! TMV ROCKS!!

Buy it. It will rock your socks off.

Eddie Salas Jr.Their best album to date. They are the most unique band out there, very talented!

anthony lyonsThis album has great musicianship...it's truly not what I expected (not to downsize the record at all)...I did expect more latin beats rather than rock...but it's an excellent part of Mars Volta history...it really cant compare to any other albums because they all vary greatly in style and genre...def worth buying, and I cant wait til I get this on CD.
