2011, RCA Records

The Strokes present their highly anticipated fourth album, Angles, via RCA Records. Angles is the band's first new release since 2006's First Impressions of Earth, and marks the ambition of that album with the immediacy of the band's earlier albums Is This It (2001) and Room on Fire (2003). After undergoing an extended hiatus in 2007, the Strokes regrouped in '09 to begin work on this soon-to-be-classic, return to the basics. They recorded a nascent form of the album with Joe Chiccarelli, but scrapped the sessions (save for "Life Is Simple in the Moonlight") and re-recorded the album on their own at guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.'s home. Hammond says of the title: "It's what the album sounds like. It comes from five different people."
