Be He Me (CD)
Nineteen year-old Adam Baker, a kid from rural Apex, NC with a faultless ear and a potent desire to create unheard-of sounds, is the architect of Annuals. Under Adam's stewardship, Annuals transform pop paradigms into sweeping, luxuriant sonic landscapes while remaining faithful to a wholehearted emotional core. Carefully layering each song with a thousand noises and feelings, Annuals camouflage the deep simplicity of what they do, belying their youth with deftness & complexity.

| This dude, this Adam Baker, sounds more and more like Joe Philips, an old indie rock hometown hero (turned NYC music scene chaser) from now-defunct FAFB. This music made me reflect on those old fewbs, and I cannot recommend anything more nostalgic for fans of melodic post-punk; it's really good, too. | |

| The sound of Annuals instantly draws comparisons to bands as varied as Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, and the Flaming Lips. Varied, but never boring, the Annuals do very well indeed on their debut, with a raw energy running throughout. | |

| I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but the songs on internet blogs are incredible. I'm definitely buying this album the moment it comes out. | |
