Hearts (CD)
Awesome New Republic is a two piece band from Miami, FL comprised of core members Michael John Hancock and Brian Robertson. The duo have been making music together for the past five years, self-releasing material, and playing art galleries and warehouse parties around Miami. They've branched out of MIA with spots at CMJ, Pop Montreal, and supporting Animal Collective, Girl Talk, and Mike Gordon among others.
Hearts was written, recorded, produced, and art-directed entirely by the band in their Miami studios. It is the end-all product of three volumes of material written over the spring/summer of 2009. It is a record that juggles themes of political dissent, environmental consciousness, and relationship affliction while maintaining a uniquely pop edge. The album was mastered by Mike Lazer (Gnarls Barkley, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club).
