'If you haven't heard Cold War Kids
before, maybe try and give them a
listen. If you HAVE listened to Cold War
Kids maybe try to listen to their new
album, Behave Yourself EP like I
did. This sweet four song EP is
straightforward and has a sound that
almost anyone can enjoy. I particularly
enjoyed the production of the album.
Every song seems to have this large
reverberating sound that is full and
rich. You would think they recorded it
at your local ballroom and in this album
the Cold War Kids caught a special
amount of minimalism that I really found
appealing. The songs are infectious and
catchy but what makes the Cold War Kids
stand out amongst many other
blues/folk/indie bands and what makes
this EP worth buying is Nathan Willet's
interesting and distinct voice. Using a
large amount of dynamics and falsetto
Willet captures a special emotion that
makes all these songs very enjoyable.
All the songs are strong, and there
aren't any runts, to speak of, but if
you're anything like me, you probably
wish it had lasted a little longer. The
songs can seem a tad short and this four
song EP clocks in less than 15 minutes.
I suppose we'll just have to wait a
couple months for their full LP to drop
into our hands.' - Willy the Knight /
