2000, Vinyl Japan (UK)
1982, saw the formation of Northampton's finest THE JAZZ BUTCHER - a prime example of British rock eccentricity. Predominantly a vehicle for the idiosyncratic, melodic songwriting talents of Pat Fish, and later suffering from some personnel instability, the one other constant member was lead guitarist and co-writer MAX EIDER.
Releasing 17 albums as THE JAZZ BUTCHER and their later incarnation THE JAZZ BUTCHER CONSPIRACY (including 6 albums for Creation), their sound was unique. Giving a nod to Lou Reed and Jonathan Richman, their subject matter ranged from the joys and woes of small town living, to fear and paranoia, to public transport, film noir and Lenin. However, if Fish's rawness could sometimes feel heavy handed, MAX EIDER's light jazz/blues feel added an eloquence which completed the sound.
MAX EIDER was to leave the band in 1987 to pursue a solo career. This spawned the great and extremely rare album 'The Best Kisser In The World' for Big Time. Originally released in 1988, this currently changes hands for incredible sums of money in Japan and the USA. Now, Vinyl Japan present a reissue on CD and vinyl of the highly collectable and sought after solo MAX EIDER album.
