VINYL FORMAT. Although Royal Baths developed amidst the encouragement of friends in San Francisco's garage scene, after returning home from touring behind their debut LP Litanies - released on the DIY Woodsist label to critical acclaim- they decided to pack up and move east, to Brooklyn. Feeling stifled by comparisons to a movement where their sound didn't belong, they hoped to find a fresh start in New York. Linking up with Brooklyn based indie Kanine, their sophomore effort, Better Luck Next Life is set to be released.
Jeremy Cox and Jigmae Baer started Royal Baths without a plan in mind but found inspiration from Cox's interest in alternate and open tunings of delta blues, a shared fascination in the African rhythm of early Chicago blues, and Baer lyrically attempting to reflect with black humor and little judgment, the thrills and troubles they tumble through.
