Better Than The Beatles: A Tribute To The Shaggs

Volume One in Animal World's tribute series which aims to give more exposure to groups from the 60s/70s/80s that we like and wish more people liked. The Shaggs tops our list in this category, making them the subject of our first tribute CD. The idea of covering a Shaggs song seems mind-boggling, near impossible to some, which makes the idea of a full Shaggs tribute album that much more fun.

The line-up on this one is amazing, with Shaggs cover songs performed by: IDA, OPTIGANALLY YOURS, THINKING FELLERS UNION LOCAL 282, THE DOUBLE U, R. STEVIE MOORE, DEERHOOF, MONGRELL, BAUER, JOOST VISSER, PLASTIC MASTERY, DANIELSON FAMILE, and the FURTIPS. Liner notes by R. Stevie Moore (one of the earliest Shaggs fans) and Irwin Chusid, WFMU DJ and author of the book Songs in the Key of Z.
