Take Manhattan (CD)
Melodic guitar-rock album recorded in 1997 by Jeff Garber (former-CASTOR
leader, currently in NATIONAL SKYLINE and ON) and Derek Niedringhaus (former
CASTOR and SARGE bassist, current member of CENTAUR). The BIG BRIGHT LIGHTS
sound like the blessed union of NATIONAL SKYLINE's atmospheric vocal apogee,
the glorious multi-textured guitar-tempest that is/was SWERVEDRIVER, and the
unadulterated rock-sense of brainy guitar bands like The FOO FIGHTERS and
SHINER?E The BIG BRIGHT LIGHTS are ?missing link?Ebetween CASTOR's soaking wet
guitar sound, serpentine rhythms and emotive vocals, and NATIONAL SKYLINE's
mind-expanding Pro-Tools intricacies. Fans of Garber's work, The PROMISE RING
even used the lyric ?the big bright lights take Manhattan?Eon their last
album! The SKYLINE has a MCD on Hidden Agenda, an EP and a brand new
full-length on File Thirteen Records. Garber has recently joined former
Failure mainman Ken Andrew's electro-rock project ON. Former CASTOR bassist
Niedringhaus recorded & toured with SARGE for 2 years, survived, is now in
CENTAUR, HUM singer/guitarist Matt Talbott's new outfit.

| I don't have much detail to state but overall this is a great album for these guys to take off from. It was laid out well. I think that Jeff Garber is a man who knows what he wants to get across and does a wonderful job composing that with others. Give it a good listen. CASTOR also a very good listen. | |
