RESTOCK. Multi-talented, groundbreaking artist Björk is kicking off 2002 with an honor from her peers and a gift to her loyal fans. The acclaimed singer/songwriter was honored with yet another Grammy nomination in the new year (her 8th), nominated for Best Alternative Music Album for her acclaimed masterpiece Vespertine. The charismatic performer is also readying the release of a rare series of much anticipated live DVD performances, The Live DVD Series, certain to become a collector's item for Björk fans. The Live DVD Series consists of three separate DVD releases, all scheduled to hit American stores in mid-February.
The three discs include Björk Live At Shepherd's Bush Empire, filmed in 1997, and released on VHS by Elektra in 1998, Live At Cambridge with the Icelandic Octet, filmed in 1998, and a disc featuring classic MTV Europe performances - MTV Unplugged and MTV Live - both taped in 1994.
The discs - previously only available internationally - will be released simultaneously here in the U.S. on February 19. The songs performed by Björk in the various settings cover the tremendous range of her amazing career, including ?Army Of Me,? ?One Day,? ?Hunter,? ?Come To Me,? and ?Human Behaviour,? among others.
Björk's current album, Vespertine, has already been hailed as a classic by critics across the globe, landing on nearly every Music Top Ten List for 2001 including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, USA Today, the LA Times, Spin Magazine, New York Magazine, and the Alternative Press, among others.
Plans are underway to release a fourth and final DVD from the Live DVD Series, Björk's Royal Opera House performance from this past December, tentatively scheduled to hit stores in the summer of 2002.
