Bjorn Olsson (Lobster)

The fourth and final in the 'seafood series' from Gothenburg guitar-mystic laureate Björn Olsson, founding member of Sweden's incendiary proto-punk juggernaut Union Carbide Productions and classic rock resurrectionists The Soundtrack of Our Lives. It was Olsson's supernatural guitar-work and deftly wrought narcotic interludes that made TSOOL first two albums, Welcome to the Infant Freebase and Extended Revelation, such utterly mindblowing psychedelic affairs. The Lobster is an elemental instrumental opus rendered in folksy, filmic Scandinavian melancholy and spaghetti western strains. Seven new songs featuring Björn on acoustic guitar with subtle backing by Pontus Ottestig and Johan Andersson. The CD concludes with a special hour-long track called 'Insomning' (to fall asleep) in which the entire album is looped with volume and treble decreasing until the physical end of the CD. The cycle devolved until mere ghosts of the songs remain and the sun-baked dramatics become haunting moonlit nocturnes.
