VINYL FORMAT. The deluxe Blinking Lights package includes 3 LPs of the critically acclaimed album on vinyl for the first time with a fourth disc that is an exclusive 17 track live album, Manchester 2005, recorded shortly after the release of Blinking Light. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, the 4 LPs each have their own covers, rice paper dust sleeves, and are accompanied by a hardback book of lyrics and photos, all housed in a beautifully crafted box that is numbered and begrudgingly signed by the author himself, Eels leader E. The edition is limited to only 2,500 copies and will be sold in order of lowest cover numbers first, 0001 - 2500. The exclusive Manchester 2005 album is only available on vinyl as part of the Blinking Light deluxe limited edition box set. It will not be released in any other formats.
A homemade epic, Blinking Lights is an imaginative, emotional reflection on the condition of living, recorded mostly in Everett's Los Angeles basement over a period of several years. Sprawling over it's two discs are songs about faith, responsibility, growing up, disappointment, comfort, hope and renewal. It's the most personal Eels album since 1998's Electro-Shock Blues. That album dealt with the nearly simultaneous suicide of Everett's sister and terminal illness of his mother, from the subjects' point of view. This album finds him a few years down the line, now battling some of the family demons himself, with the after effects of past tragedies becoming more of a personal issue in his adult life, sometimes fearlessly autobiographical, and other times built around the related stories of others.
