#10 Seller of 2005! Bloc Party is an autonomous unit of un-extraordinary kids reared on pop culture between the years 1976 and the present day. They eventually concluded that their own attempts to imitate what had informed them could be innovative and fresh. "It's just a matter of time before London's groovy post-punkers Bloc Party take the States by storm"--Entertainment Weekly. "Bloc Party will be the band of 2005, no contest. As vital as The Clash in '77 and as sinister as The Specials in '82"--NME

User Reviews

Jason Stewart - Norman, OK, USA
Bloc Party?s brand of post punk is extremely athletic and physically fit, and it?s swimming in paranoia and fear like some Reagan era time capsule. But there?s a very modern urgency to this music, a rapid-fire alertness that grabs hold of anything that?s listening. These guys want to rock out all their fears and anxieties, and there?s a comfort and a release in their honest exuberance. They seem to be saying that nothing is all right, but we may as well dance in the flames. There?s something in their youthful vigor and their unchecked earnestness that really reminds me of another debut album from some socially conscious lads: ''Boy'' by U2.
