Books Lie
Brooklyn's Books Lie troll through the grimy underside of the hardcore scene, fusing the venom of T.S.O.L. with the intensity of Gravity Records bands. The sound is desperate but relentless, like a derailed subway car careening toward the end of the line.
Formed in 2000 by four kids with master's degrees and no health insurance -- Dawn, Myles, Diamonds, and Adam -- Books Lie promptly released their debut LP, Satellite Transmissions' It a Weapon. Another album, Weep, was put out by Coalition and a 7", I Felt Like Such a Loser Until I Realized I Am Already a Winner, was issued by Level Plane. Hall of Fame of Fire, the band's definitive collection -- including the first album, singles, and B-sides evoking everything from Swiz to Antioch Arrow to Bad Brains -- was put out by Level Plane in 2004. ~ Charles Spano, Rovi
