Boris the Sprinkler

The band seem to have spent more time writing catchy hooks this time around, resulting in a more enjoyable set of Ramones-inspired punk tunes. Still, Gay plays like a long joke, and while Boris the Sprinkler's wacky sense of humor surely has its fans, the music itself often feels like a secondary concern. For your convenience, the entire album is repeated in track 15. ~ Andy Hinds, All Music Guide

When Boris the Sprinkler match their over-the-top silliness with catchy hooks, the results are winning, as on the stuttering, Knack-inspired "Icky Shazam." At other times, their schtick can get tiresome, like a would-be comedian who, well after the party is over, still won't stop telling bad jokes. Admirable for their commitment to comedy, BTS's wisecracking punk is nevertheless a bit exhausting in its nonstop, full-throttle looniness. ~ Andy Hinds, All Music Guide
