Letting Off the Happiness (CD)
Bright Eyes is an ever-changing entity. Its only constant is singer/songwriter Conor Oberst, whose lyrical and musical ability continue to amaze us. When Conor finished writing these ten songs, he gathered together a large group of musicians, some of them close friends and others mere acquaintances, to lay down tracks of keyboards, drums, samples, pedal steel guitar, piano, and various other instruments. Some of them recorded in his basement on an old eight-track analog system, and others accompanied him into the Athens, GA recording studio known as Chase Park Transduction. Over those twelve months, the host of musicians that showed up to contribute included members of Cursive, Drip, Lullaby for the Working Class, Neutral Milk Hotel, Of Montreal, Sorry About Dresden, and others. For those familiar with the work of Bright Eyes, this new record represents a big step forward in terms of fidelity.

| There are certain people who are here to wake us up from this depressed state that we all know so well, and Conor is one of those people. Truly a great album. | |

| with such proficent credentials, coner oberest (with the help of some very talented friends) has released the soundtrack of a frantic crying fit. with a voice constantly teetering on the brink of a breakdown, coner has dispelled any sense that his age is a hinderance. he is possibly the first milestone of this millenium in important music. letting off the happiness showcases his massive song writing and rendering talents even more so than his prior releases and even more so than the new full length. this album is already a piece of music history. | |

| I have two words "Completely Brillant". This album and everything i have heard anything that Coner had anything to do with is so brilliant. Coner's ways of self expression are so beautiful, he has the ablity to say to what don't have the stregnth to, or to explain whats in or cold hearts. He gets inside of you makes you cry for his pain, and your own. But something this intelligent cannot stay underground for too long i imagine that by the time of thier new relese has been out for a year or so everyone else will catch on, and everything else that Coner has done will be forgotten. It will become a meaningless fad, of people who listen to music they don't understand. So you should all cherish Bright Eyes before stardom strikes even though i highly highly doubt it change them, it feels better to fully understand something that is beautiful and for others to clueless, i think?....ummmmm
nevermind sorry for blabing buy everything that bright eyes has you will not be dissapointed

| This is one of the most original, emotional, and creative efforts I have ever seen. Conor Oberst is a genius. Musically and lyrically heart felt songs about love and departure, friends, and basically just being alive. Vocals which can only be described as weathered compliment
amazing guitar work and keyboards throughout the album leaving a visual imprint in my mind. "the t.v.'s broke, the colors are fucked, you see the difference in the shades, but the green is still closed to green my love and i believe we are the same." This album will steal your heart. Highly HIGHLY recommended. Fans of: Cursive, Neutral Milk Hotel, early Lou Barlow recordings, etc. will definitely enjoy this.
