Released in 1997. Not many groups would take a major-label contract as a cue to release an album where the shortest song is a very radio-unfriendly five minutes in length. For that, listeners can thank their lucky stars that Built to Spill isn't like many groups -- and that frontman Doug Martsch isn't like many artists. Using Warner's bigger budgets and distribution, Martsch and company have made an album at once inspiring and quietly emotional. Their best album yet.

This is the album that makes you a Built to Spill fanatic. There's Nothing Wrong with Love and Keep It Like a Secret are absolutely amazing, but this is the one that changes the way you look at music. This is the most thematically cohesive album in BTS's discography. Lyrically this album is somewhat more abstract than anything else BTS has done, but the room for interpretation makes it that much more personal for each individual listener. And the guitar work! Oh my, the guitar work. Layers upon layers of unique guitar parts sound absolutely gorgeous. How many more four-star reviews do you need!? Buy the album already!!

This album is much like a symphony in that every movement is excellent, yet each piece is merely a fragment when detached from the whole. If friends have given you single songs from this album, you will be blown away by the transitions froom song to song on the entire album. Perfect From Now On is a must for any listener with any musical taste whatsoever.

Sure there are better guitarists and better lyricists, but this album is a rare example of when creativity, skill and emotion blend flawlessly

Cripes, This album is good! Just got it today and everytime I play it it blows me away even more than the previous listen. The melodicism on this is amazing. My first BTS album was Keep It Like A Secret (which I love), but this one surpasses it by far. The songs flow together beautifully. If you want a BTS album to start with, this is it!

Pure divine inspiration is what this album bespeaks; Musical Mountains eroded slight by the soft wings of passing angels. It is impeccable, sprawingly yet precise, and as Doug has confessed, it is a third draft. For all of BST hard work, they present us, in the end, with something that I believe will endure far longer than any '70s cock-rock tripe. Doug, on this album, has perfected his poetics (lyrically and sonorously) to create an album that is trans-pop. Pop music is doomed to become nostalgic at best. This album is destined to be canonized in the western canon or used to reform criminals. Buy this album, it will make your smarter.

If you don't like this album, I don't like you. Nobody does. This is because you know nothing about music. Nothing.

Hej alla barn! Det här är en skiva både du och jag skulle kunna gilla. Till kaffet. to the cofee.
