2009, Jive Records
VINYL FORMAT. Cage the Elephant is a Bowling Green, Kentucky-based five piece band consisting of Matt Shultz (vocals) hsi brother Brad (guitar) and their friends Daniel Tichenor (bass), Lnicoln Parish (guitar) and Jared Champion (drums). Matt, Brad and Daniel grew up on an alternative religious commune started by their ex-hippie parents. Pop music was strictly forbidden so theirdiscovery of key punk and rock influences was covert and somewhat recent. The essence of Jimi Hendrix, Green Day, White Stripes and Kings of Leon, among others fuels Cage's libertine, over-the-top rock explosions. Cage the Elephant are exultant, intemperate, and ready to conquer.

Customer Reviews

William ReinmuthI was not to sure about this group until I experienced a personal relationship with Matt and Daniel from the band. They are close friends of my son Tiger Reinmuth from Morning Teleportation who has an album coming out shortly. They toured with Cage last November and are currently touring with them. I had a chance to experience who they were personally and their live music. All I can say is that I love these guys deeply. I purchased their album after the tour in November when I met them and it is outstanding. It is raw at times and can touch a nerve with many. The songs are written from actual life experiences and not candy coated. I found that every time I put their album on that as soon as I heard the first note I was ready once again to hear the album in its entirety with no interruptions please. I am hoping to catch them live in Cleveland and Colombus the middle of March with Morning Teleporation. Be ready for some hard driving music with a little fantasy drifting at times. Great stuff!
