2001, Damaged Goods (UK)
Honeyrider are Gary Strickland (Vocals, Guitar and Keyboards), Petrinka
Drasovic (Guitar), Tony Alva (Bass) and Robin Hill (Drums). The band is
named after a blonde bikini clad beach-babe from the 1960s James Bond film
Dr No. They are all from San Diego, California and grew up skateboarding,
surfing and hanging out at the drag strip. They're big fans of The Ramones,
The Beach Boys and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Honeyrider released their first
record "Drugstore Shootout" on Candy Floss in the US in 1996 and shortly
afterwards began to work with Damaged Goods in the UK. "California Dreams"
is an effortlessly melodic dose of uplifting fuzz-pop and is the second
single to be taken from Honeyrider's excellent "Splashdown" album. The CD
version has two brand new tracks recorded in Tampa, Florida called "The
Summer Scene" and "In The Distance". The 7" has another exclusive track, a
cover version of The Beach Boys' "Surfin' Safari".
