2006, Sub Pop
From Brazil, CSS is the first South American band Sub Pop has foisted upon the global marketplace. The title is Portuguese for "Tired Of Being Sexy" and the sound is a thick, pulsating thing full of haphazard synths and a come-on of call and response that tears down any attempt at posturing. It's equal parts rock mantra and throwback into something new, transcending boundaries of genre and geography. It goes full speed into dance territory, into the unknown and untouched, to emerge all hot and bothered with wild electro-rock. Quick, tightly-wound, unfastened, and supreme.

Customer Reviews

Enrico GodiniThis record's really like a breath of fresh air...funny, sexy, brilliant indie pop with a dance twist! They should sell MILLIONS of this, they deserve it. Help them!

Peter PendergrassThis album is the fucking shit! CSS is a Brazilian gang who just recently have gotten some press in the US. Their album "Cansei de Ser Sexy", which means "Tired of Being Sexy" in Portuguese is packed with disco-power-pop-jams that you will have on repeat for hours. Fun Fact: The title of the album actually came from an interview with Beyonce Knowles that the band read/heard where she said "I'd just tired of being sexy." THIS IS THE ALBUM OF SUMMER 2006! No matter what anyone else says, it's not Be Your Own Pet.

Chris GeorgeI wouldn't go so far to say this is the release of the year. But it's very very solid. Simple, dance-y, a bit repetitive. But hard to find to much wrong with this. It's been in my cd player for a long time. Definitely recommend buying this.
