Cats and Mice

Singer/songwriter and guitarist Kristin Hersh founded Throwing Muses as a teenager in the early '80s. She released her first solo album Hips and Makers in 1994 during a break from the band, which went on to swiftly outsell all her previous efforts. Hersh continues to record and perform in Throwing Muses, her other band 50FOOTWAVE and as a solo artist. Cats and Mice captures a unique solo performance presented complete and unedited, recorded amid the lush acoustics of San Francisco's fabled jazz club Yoshi's. The set list draws deep from the well of Appalachian folk songs and murder ballads that her grandparents taught her, which typically feature in her rare "Shady Circle" appearances at people's homes. Bantering with and even taking requests from the faithful audience, she performs stunning versions of songs from her solo career (from Hips and Makers up to 2010's Crooked), and even a couple of Throwing Muses favorites.
