2004, Glurp
Over the past 5 years, The Anniversary developed a large and loyal following with their unique psychedelic take on the "emo" sound. After 80,000 records sold on Vagrant Records, tours with everybody from Cheap Trick to Guided By Voices and Modest Mouse, the 5 piece decided to call it quits in late 2003. Now rising from the ashes of that dearly departed band comes The Only Children and their debut album, Change of Living - the next step in the evolution of this talented group of musicians. Change of Living is rooted in classic blues-rock like Beggars Banquet - era Stones and classic country-rock like Harvest-era Neil Young, and finds chief songwriter Josh Berwanger raiding his influences for the first time. Berwanger (lead guitarist/singer) took up with fellow Anniversary mates James David (bass) and Christian Jankowski (drums), as well as kindred spirits Casey Prestwood (Hot Rod Circuit) and Heidi-Lynn Gluck (Juliana Hatfield’s Some Girls) to craft this inspired set of songs with a vintage American rock sound.
