Chicago avant-pop combo Chin Up Chin Up was formed in the fall of 2001 by former Punjab singer/guitarist Jeremy Bolen and ex-Nymb singer/guitarist Nathan Snydacker. Bassist Chris Saathoff and drummer Chris Dye completed the original lineup, which spent eight months writing original songs and honing its textured, sinuous sound before ever playing its first live date. #27 Seller of 2005! Chin Up Chin Up's disarmingly resonant debut album We Should Have Never Lived Like We Were Skyscrapers is ready to carry you through autumn and beyond. It's an album that proves that sentimental pop songs don't have to be cloying or trite. Meticulously layered with solid drums, keyboards, and warm guitar, these ten songs will wrap themselves around your mind and stay there all day. Tragically, original bassist Chris Saathoff was [ read more ]

Jeremy Bolen, formerly of Punjab and Hertzsprung Gap, formed Chin Up Chin Up with Nathan Snydacker of Nymb in early fall 2001. It was their mission to create a new Chicago sound, one that is melodically rich and textural, combining linear pop songs with non-traditional instrumentation. Together with Chris Dye on drums and Chris Saathoff on bass, they began writing songs that convey a sentimental feeling akin to an '80s John Hughes movie soundtrack, but with a contemporary sound.
