2012, Gravedancer Records
Chrome Waves is a super group of sorts, made up of some of America's most respected extreme metal musicians. The band is made up of guitarist Jeff Wilson of Nachtmystium and Wolvhammer, vocalist Stavros Giannopoulos of The Atlas Moth and Twilight, and drummer/bassist Bob Fouts from The Gates of Slumber and Apostle of Solitude. With a lineup of this magnitude, the debut release from Chrome Waves is already highly anticipated and discussed by metal fans globally.
Fans will be astonished as soon as they hear the first notes. The trio combines sounds to create a kaleidoscopic rush of psychedelic black metal, post-rock and doom that is as haunting as the melodies are memorable. MetalSucks, who recently premiered "Height of the Rifles," sums up Chrome Waves' sound as "a delicious stew concocted from the best parts of all three bands, a dark mix of black metal, Atlas Moth-ian dreary, atmospheric doom and a certain rawness of which Gates of Slumber fans would approve."
The self-titled debut is also the first release for Gravedancer Records, the new label formed by Josh Eldridge (ex-Century Media) and distributed by EMI. Chrome Waves self-produced the album in their hometown of Chicago.
