One could start off dismissing this entire album because it doesn't have that first CYHSY polished feel (especially the first two heavily distorted tracks) but after a few tracks and heck even a couple of listens you can't stop playing it. The obvious hit is "Satan Said Dance" but one only need to go two tracks further to find the decisive track "Goodbye to Mother and the Cove" that will entrance you on every listen. The rest of the album is full of songs that will catch your fancy in different ways including the awesome ''Underwater (You and Me)'' with it's catchy chorus fade out.

This album is obviously a bit different from the debut album ... but I think it has its own good qualities even if I didn't love each song on it. Despite some other opinions, I enjoy the title song and don't feel it had any problems. Underwater (You and Me) would be a personal favorite. Album reviewed..

First song really bites. Sorry. It does. Why didn't someone just raise there hand and say, "Hey, this distortion just sounds like we messed up encoding to MP3." Which is *exactly* the thought I had when I got the prerelease download from Insound. Now the rest of the album may not have the same "Wow!" factor as CYHSY's first, but I'm enjoying it. I just have to disable track 1 in iTunes so it is never, ever played again. It?s just too jarring a start to an otherwise good album.

This album met my every want from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! Alec and the rest of the boys are genius and are so creative. This album makes me smile to say the least...

I'm passively listening to the CD and am so far really feeling tracks #2 and #7. I could do without the intentional blown out speaker effect in the recording of Some Loud Thunder, especially through headphones, but everything else is making me glad I snagged a copy early. Still, amazing that this is a DIY album.

Innovative music distribution models that threaten to cripple the traditional record industry are contingent on a few important assumptions -- most importantly songs that are good. I adored CYHSY's debut and have been eagerly awaiting their follow-up. Unfortunately, they have broken my heart. Most of the record (7 of 11 tracks) is unlistenable -- I literally find myself unable to make myself listen to some of the songs in their entirety (and I'm pretty open to the kind of stuff I'm willing to try out in music). Think more explorations of the accordion with minimal rhythm and some other odds and ends and you'll get the drift. And the few tracks that are ok are just, um, ok. Not one offers any hint of the charm, urgency or hooks that the debut had. The disappointment of the year.

I think this album is one of the better albums of the year...since the last album of Bob Dylan...just wonderful.
