1999, K Records
While the industry is full of commercial copy artists, conservative producers diggin' in the crates marked "The Best of MTV 80's Dance Hits", and a host of project kids selling their soul for a chance to live in player paradise, leave it up to the Seattle-Tacoma Underground to bring you nothing but the real Hip-Hop. Look toward the NW corner and you'll find that scientists have been in the lab putting together the ELEMENTS that make CLASSIC material, thus you have CLASSIC ELEMENTS. First up on this Vinyl EP is the return of the radical hip hop organization of BLACK ANGER, dropping philosophy, psychology, and physics on the Ancient Egyptian based joint "3rd Eye". Next on deck is TILSON showing that from the urbs to the suburbs, hip hop is universal. "A Little Better" featuring Mathematic on production gives you something to dance to while still maintaining its underground credentials. Batting third is JALEEL rising from the underground ashes, blazing the atmosphere like a phoenix proclaiming to all wack contenders that "I Call It Like I See It". And Finally hitting fourth is 5E, showing that generation after generation, hip hop is far from a fad. Although young, experience shines on the mic as this four man crew flips lyrics like varsity lettermen on "Paradox". This 12" is a sampler plate preparing you for the full course CLASSIC ELEMENTS compilation CD (KLP 79) due April 21st, which will definitely demonstrate that authentic true school skills still reign supreme.
