Clouds

Clouds is THE IVORY COAST's follow-up to The Rush of Oncoming Traffic (on Big Wheel Recreation), a record that met with positive reviews and enthusiastic fans everywhere the band went. THE COAST spent the second half of last year supporting The Rush... on tour and playing a string of successful shows (with everyone from GIRLS VS BOYS and BUFFALO TOM to RAINER MARIA and JETS TO BRAZIL). After spending the winter and spring writing and recording in their native Boston, THE IVORY COAST seem to have perfected their layered harmonies, intricate instrumentation, and pop structures to emerge with a record that is sure to keep the established fans and make legions of new ones.

As five individuals with significantly varying (and often opposing) views and tastes (musically and otherwise) the members of Boston's The Ivory Coast certainly share at least one thing in common: their lives have been changed because of music. Punk, oldies radio, lo-fi, dub, indie, electronic music and rock n' roll among other things have made them the people who they are and affected how they play music when they come together. The band's music is not an awkward hybrid or amalgamation of their differing tastes or the above musical forms but perhaps instead it is the result of where their shared interests overlap and their instincts meet.
