Based in Cambridge, England, Ryan Teague is a composer who actively seeks to fuse the elements of electronic and acoustic music. His tempered electro-acoustic hybrids seek to explore the relationship between more traditional instrumentation and techniques with modern synthesis in order to forge new and innovative musical territories. Teague is equally concerned with clearly defined structure and form and likens his music to Chamber music with regards to its emphasis on specific groupings of instruments and themes. His Six Preludes EP was released to much acclaim on Type Records in April 2005 and he is currently working on a follow up collection of pieces.
As well as being an accomplished musician Teague often works with a broad variety of session musicians and often draws on unusual instruments and natural sounds to create the rich tonal variety that characterizes his music. Through this process he seeks to encourage inventive and spontaneous reactions to his work.
Ryan’s background and interests range from Modern Composition and electronic music through to jazz and progressive music, but always with a strong emphasis on spiritual and sacred qualities. In addition he is interested in Music Therapy and the ways in which music and its process can influence us on a more integral level.
