2008, Slumberland
Insound Staff Pick - 2008! This Slumberland mini-supergroup (now, sadly, broken up) formed in 1989, drawing inspiration from UK labels like Subway, 53rd and 3rd, Subway and (eventually) Sarah. Unashamedly trafficking in melody and noisy pop, they staked out an important place in indiepop history, helping to broaden the focus of the often myopic early-nineties US indie scene. This comp includes all the tracks from their two singles, plus compilation appearances and a previously unheard demo cut.
