Cryptooology

The debut album from St. Louis-based dual-guitar-and-drums trio YOWIE. Named after Australia's version of Bigfoot, the band stomps some sonic lore, crashing the progressive rock rhythmic sensibilities of Ruins, Yes, Magma, and King Crimson against the shriekier side of DNA, Big Black, Henry Kaiser, and Slayer. Seven tracks (all titled with female names beginning with the letter "T") delivered with many variations in time signature, tempo, and tuning to create a virtual audio maze, that regardless of its complexities remains cohesive and compelling.
