2005, Lujo Records
Frantic Mantis was born in summer 2003 out of an impromptu jam session between longtime friends in Göteborg, Sweden, bridging the mutual musical admiration of Håkan Johansson and Per Stålberg of Division of Laura Lee with that of Shelby Cinca of Frodus/Decahedron. Frantic Mantis merges the styles of all these bands impeccably, creating a modern-day fusion of punk and ambient rock known we call "datapunk." The album sees the members visiting their musical pasts as well as looking forward with unhinged creativity. "Monorchid meets your mom on 15 shots of espresso driving a hot-rodded bulldozer controlled by a Gameboy. Crazy Swedes and one crazy Romanian refugee get together and make some dangerous, weird, noisy punk rock, kind of like Hot Snakes." -- Buddyhead.com
