Curse Your Little Heart (CDep)
DeVotchKa have quietly become one of America's most celebrated bands, creating a wholly unique sound informed by Eastern European, Southwestern, South American, and American punk and folk roots. The Denver based Multi-instrumentalist four piece trade off on violin, accordion, acoustic bass, sousaphone, theremin, piano, drums, guitars, and more - backing the other-worldly vocals of Nick Urata. Following the critically hailed 2004 self-release How it ends, DeVotchKa have focused their inimitatable sensibility on this selection of diverse covers - songs by friends and inspirations.![]()

| Their version of Siouxsie's "The Last Beat of My Heart" is worth the price of admission. A great EP of diverse covers and a new song as an added bonus! If you get the chance, see this band live. | |

| The CD was well worth the $10 I spent on it. Inspired by a wide range of musical genres. Different, very original. Don't be afraid, you'll enjoy this, a lot. | |

| A little bit of everything. Finally, they decided to put their cover of VU's 'Venus In Furs' (always a crowd favorite). A cozy little cover of the Sinatra's 'Something Stupid' (who wrote that anyway?). Not quite the oomph of a Devotchka full-length, but for the uninitiated, it's a fair representation of one of Colorado's brightest lights. | |
