Fun Bomb (CD)
Australia is not the only country to fall in lust with late-'60s/early-'70s Detroit, with the Stooges and especially the MC5. This QuTbec quartet has studied the style with such a minute microscope, one could swear Fun Bomb is outtakes by Radio Birdman or the Celibate Rifles. This wild bunch would likely faint like knocked-down bowling pins if Wayne Kramer ever hopped up on stage with them and tried to plug in a guitar. But, thorough reverence aside, what makes Demolition transcend a cheap nostalgic act is the Wicked (capital W!) sense of "fun" indeed, of demented desire for kicks and tough-sounding, street-rockin' times, as if they would give pints of blood and bales of bologna for another hot neo-Chuck Berry riff, a six pack of Moosehead, an empty garage, a gaggle of hot girls in miniskirts to dance with and sleep with, some diggin' shades, and a little smoke coming out of the guitars. It's relentless, cool, and pretty damn infectious! Yow! ~ Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover, All Music Guide
