Descent To Mimas

Descent to Mimas is a good example of the evolutionary stages of Bastard Noise. The title track, Descent to Mimas, is a combination of the current atmospheric sounds and the original caveman electronics roots. Eric Wood, founder of MITB and Bastard Noise, destroys the microphone with his vocal hissing, squealing and growling brutality, which has carried over from the MITB days. The next two tracks, Beneath Ice Skin and Lunar Nest Guard, are harsh, powerful, instrumental electronic pieces. The home made Amps For Christ amplifier is featured on track two as we explore the icy surface of Mimas. Its crude circuitry seems to take on a mind of its own as it is carefully manipulated by its owner. The crunchy and gritty sounds of Beneath Ice Skin transforms into the frantic, code-red emergency of Lunar Nest Guard. Alarms are blaring as we find ourselves deep into the battle with the protector of Mimas' space centipede nest. This track continually intensifies until its sudden and abrupt ending. The final track is pure, drifting atmospheric bliss. Clocking in at over 31 minutes, track four takes you on a somber journey as your lifeless body forever drifts through space nestled securely in your Space Coffin.
