2011, Tee Pee Records
Burgeoning Brooklyn buzz band ELKS releases its debut album Destined For The Sun on September 13 via NYC's Tee Pee Records. Featuring an abstract conceptual theme chronicling "the history of a tribe of nomadic Space Vikings," ELKS tell the tale of "peaceful Inhabitants of a planet colonized by an expanding empire," incorporating a myriad of strange sci-fi ephemera including a "super computer" at the end of the universe dubbed "The Wizard." Recorded by Made Out Of Babies guitarist Brendan Tobin at Brooklyn's Translator Audio, the album captures every nuance of ELKS' dynamic live spectacle and amps it up tenfold, resulting in the perfect sonic experience for fans of mind-bending modern metal.
ELKS is a forward-thinking, heavy-hitting and disciplined group of musicians whose adrenaline-driven songs combine relentless heaviness, behemoth riffing and technical proficiency with an epic scope that is fiery, intelligent and unpredictable. After honing its ormidable live reputation with countless live shows, their appearance on the vinyl compilation "This Is Brooklyn Not LA" saw the heat on the band grow hotter and earned the quartet gigs along side acts such as A Storm Of Light, Today Is The Day and Coliseum and saw the Village Voice call the band's sound "at once majestic and rollicking." Now with the release of Destined For The Sun, ELKS are set to prove that their reputation precedes them for a reason.
