Chicago do-it-yourselfers Detachment Kit scraped together some money to record their full-length debut, which, appropriately enough, was released on the Self-Starter Foundation of New York. Label owner Chris Newmyer had already been wowed by the group's demo, which was later released as the vinyl EP Attack on Bright America. Absolutely amazing. Of This Blood is the follow-up to Detachment Kit's 2002 Self-Starter Foundation debut, They Raging, Quiet Army. Of This Blood was recorded in two weeks at Steve Albini's studio, Electrical Audio in Chicago, IL, the same creative hotbed where the band spent all of ONE day recording their first album. Brooklyn's Detachment Kit are one of our very favorite bands. Their latest self-released album represents thirteen tracks of wonderfully angular guitar rock with a dash of spazz. Riffs like these should be illegal. This comes highly recommended!

REISSUE ON SPINART! INCLUDES BONUS VIDEO, "Sitting Still, Talking About Jets." The Detachment Kit are from Chicago, and they're good. We say it that way, because the two things don't go together very often. The Detachment Kit are definitely post-post-something, but we're not quite sure what.
