Cripple Crow (LP)
VINYL FORMAT. Banhart's fourth critically acclaimed album, released in September 2005, now available for the first time on vinyl. This double LP set contains seven extra tracks that were not included on the original CD release. The artist rose to indie rock prominence via several releases for New York-based Young God Recordings since 2002, particularly last year's Rejoicing in the Hands. Cripple Crow blends Banhart's familiar acoustic side with a broader range of instrumentation on such tracks as "Long Haired Child" and "When They Come." Three ballads, "Santa Maria Da Feira," "Quedate Luna" and "Luna De Margarita," are sung in Spanish, which was Banhart's primary language growing up in Caracas, Venezuela.

| This is Devendra's fourth official full length album, and is a true beacon of his talent and prowess as a songwriter. This album has more interesting instumentation than Rejoicing in the Hands and Nino Rojo, but the core soul of the songs is still there. Devendra's music takes you into a little forest where you get to dance around with trees and bumblebees. The long awaited LP version of the album is especially...special. Limited to 500 copies world wide, and including alternative cover art (a collage rendition of the original cover, created with fan photos that were submitted as part of a contest) this double vinyl set includes all the b-sides from the two singles taken from the album ("Heard Somebody Say" and "I Feel Just Like a Child"). This is a great thing to purchase, particularly for a vinyl collector. These will be all over eBay in 3 years. | |

| Some ''old school'' Banhart fans may tell you that you should listen to his older material because Cripple Crow is ''over produced'' and blah, blah, blah.
Nonsense. A great album by a fantastic singer/songwriter/guitarist.
There's nothing wrong with clarity if you write really pretty songs. Buy this today! | |

| I have to say Devendra Banhart writes some really strange, interesting music. It is kind of like hippie, indie, folk, latino, all mixed into one. I am amazed at how nothing else sounds like this. I would say Devendra Banhart is not for everyone but it is worth checking out. I really like the album. My favorite tracks are "Long Haired Child" and "I Feel Like a Child". I also like how he throws in the spanish singing song like "Quedateluna". Definitely something different, but very good. | |
