2010, Burning House Records
Jarrod Gorbel performed for several years under the moniker The Honorary Title, a project that eventually evolved into a full-fledged quartet. Devil's Made a New Friend is Jarrod's debut full length release under his own name. The album was produced by Blake Sennett (of Rilo Kiley and The Elected), and features many collaborations and a band made up of members of Rilo Kiley, Black Crowes, Mystic Valley Band, and Azure Ray. The songs incorporate new elements such as strings, horns, and female backing vocals to create a more lush, organic sound that compliments Jarrod's deceptively simple melodies, warm arrangements, and soaring voice. The album is a set of ten songs that capture an artist, as he puts it, "starting over, going back to the beginning, and re-establishing myself."
