Jon Attwood aka yellow6, returns with his fourth album: 'disappear here', on makeminemusic, a label founded by attwood and scott (portal) sinfield. Newcomers to the yellow6 sound will find much to immerse themselves in and the already converted will know what to expect: big, open canvases of epic proportions and the uncanny harmonics wrought from attwood's full-sounding guitars, stretching from horizon to horizon. A slightly darker, daunting atmosphere pervades this outing and the textural presence is awesome. All quite languid, yet amazingly powerful at the same time, these are truly reflective passages that force the listener to shut out all outside stimuli and remain only in the moment of the piece playing. Melody is the key here, and is an absolute strength of the yellow6 oeuvre. This is one of those stunningly gorgeous, mystifying albums that demands repeat listens in order to absorb all of its nuances.
