2010, Strut | !K7
Strut presents the first in a new series of compilations, Disconnect, asking some of the world's leading DJs to explore the darker side of their collections for rarities, secret weapons and unheralded dancefloor winners. We kick off with one of the UK's finest, Leo Zero aka Leo Elstob. Leo boasts an illustrious history in clubland, involved with legendary UK nights Shrink2Fit, Soulsonic and Faith. As a producer, he has been a co-member of Chicane, Dab Hands, A Mountain of One and more. Today, he is best known as an excellent remixer, re-working Paul Weller, Florence & The Machine and Bryan Ferry. His Disconnect mix for Strut is a master class in the subversive dancefloor sound for which he has become renowned, taking in Afro, disco, reggae, punk, the sound of Factory Records and pioneers like Can, Brian Eno and John Cale. Among the highlights, Basement 5's proto punk-reggae bomb 'Silicon Chip' in a previously unreleased edit from the original tapes, the epic extended version of Propaganda's 'Frozen Faces' and Afro-punk throwdowns from Unknown Cases and Indambinigi.
